BRS working president K T Rama Rao today called upon party cadres to remain vigilant and prevent any irregularities by the Congress and the BJP during the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana.
Addressing party leaders and cadres through a teleconference, KTR emphasised that every vote must be protected at the booth level.
He said that there was a strong possibility of the Congress and the BJP misusing their power to register bogus votes and manipulate the voter list.
KTR claimed that serious allegations had emerged across the country where, under the guise of electoral roll revision by the Election Commission, lakhs of opposition votes were reportedly deleted in several States by the BJP.
He also reminded party members of the recent Jubilee Hills by-election and municipal elections, where the Congress allegedly benefited from the addition of bogus votes to the voter list.
KTR said that both the Congress and the BJP might attempt to misuse the SIR exercise in Telangana as well, and urged party workers to remain extremely cautious. He stressed that BRS cadres must not only safeguard their own votes but also ensure that no fake or ineligible voters were added to the rolls.
KTR said that the exercise was meant to correct errors in the voter list and facilitate the registration of new voters, and urged party workers to utilise this opportunity effectively to identify and remove bogus voters on a booth-by-booth basis.
