TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhkar today took a jibe at the BJP for its "hypocrisy", and called it out for welcoming defecting leaders from other parties after first calling them "traitors" and "thieves".
He mockingly asked whether joining the BJP was a way for "bad people" to turn into virtuous ones, or if the party was content with welcoming "thieves and traitors" into its fold.
The Congress leader slammed the saffron party's actions as being "hypocritical", and "opportunistic", and also faulted it for allegedly ignoring its older leaders in favour of the new ones it was welcoming.
"The BJP is ignoring the leaders who have been working for years together to strengthen the party, and is welcoming and favouring new leaders instead. D K Aruna, a former Congress leader, is the biggest example of this. After joining the party in 2019, she was appointed party Vice President within a year. This implies that there are no better leaders in the BJP than Aruna. It is an insult to the senior leaders of the BJP," he said.
Prabhkar also lashed out at fellow party leaders who had recently switched over to the saffron side, and said that the defectors had forsaken the very party responsible for the creation of Telangana.
His tirade against the rival party comes right after party leader and former MLA Kuna Srisailam Goud
joined the BJP, day before yesterday, on February 21.
