Congress MPs To Support Chalo Hyderabad: KK
Former Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao said that Congress party leaders from the region would extend full support to the Telangana March scheduled for September 30.
Former Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao on Monday said that the Congress party leaders from the region would extend full support to the Telangana March scheduled to be held on September 30.
Talking to media persons after emerging from a meeting with MPs from the region at his residence, Kesava Rao said that the leaders have taken this decision as per the wishes of the people of achieving statehood for Telangana.
He said that the people of the region were not ready to accept any financial packages or regional councils for backward area development, and that they wanted only the formation of a Telangana state.
Kesava Rao asked the government not to obstruct the Telangana March by imposing various restrictions. He stated that the Telangana leaders also appealed to Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy not to resort to illegal arrests to dilute the March.
Hailing the Ministers and MLAs writing a letter to the Congress High Command over the issue, he said that it would be better if they directly participated in the agitation.
He also came down heavily on Seemandhra leaders for their alleged provocative comments at a time when the Centre was taking a crucial decision on the Telangana statehood issue.
He alleged that Seemandhra leaders were intentionally making provocative remarks to scuttle the chances of the formation of a Telangana state by disturbing the law and order situation.
Rao appealed to Seemandhra leaders to co-operate with the Telangana leaders in the formation of a separate Telangana state. He described the Samaikhyandhra agitation as "sponsored" to protect the leaders' selfish interests.
He added that the Congress party would suffer a huge damage in the region if it failed to honour its promise given to the people.
Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannatham suspected the commitment of Seemandhra leaders to launching an agitation to keep the state united. He alleged that Seemandhra leaders have launched the agitation to counter the Telangana March and to disturb law and order.
Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud, Peddapalli MP G Vivek and Warangal MP S Rajaiah also participated in the meeting. (INN)
