Resignation Won't Help: T Cong

Jana Reddy says ministers are ready to resign if the act could get statehood for the Telangana region.
Hyderabad | 2nd October 2012
A day after threatening to submit mass resignations, Congress MPs from the Telangana region softened their tones, stating that they would mount pressure on the High Command to take a favourable decision on the statehood issue.

Peddapalli MP G Vivek, on Monday, also wrote a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, complaining that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had mishandled the issue of the Telangana March. Demanding that the Congress High Command take an early decision on the statehood issue, he said that the Chief Minister's approach and attitude towards the issue would damage the party in near future.

Earlier, Panchayat Raj minister Kunduru Jana Reddy ridiculed the Telangana Political JAC's demand of the resignation of all ministers and elected representatives of the Telangana region. He said that these ministers were ready to resign if the act could get statehood for the Telangana region. He pointed out that the resignations submitted earlier did not bring any results.

However, he announced that a delegation of Congress leaders of Telangana would go to Delhi on Tuesday to explain the situation to Sonia Gandhi and other Central leaders.

Nalgonda MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy blamed three other Congress MPs - Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and Lagadapati Rajagopal - for stalling the formation of a Telangana state. Talking to reporters after the meeting of Telangana ministers, MPs and MLAs at Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha's residence at Ministers' Quarters, he claimed that the people of Seemandhra regions were not against the formation of Telangana.

However, he said, only three MPs from the region are proving to be hurdles in the formation of Telangana in order to save their personal interests.

Ministers Basvaraj Saraiah and Prasad Kumar, MPs Manda Jagannatham, G Vivek, Ponnam Prabhakar, C Rajaiah, Balram Naik and MLC Yadav Reddy also participated in the meeting. (INN)

I think the Congress is playing spoil sport in this serious issue and Professor Kothandaram rightly said that hence forth the target should be on Congress leaders of this region to mount pressure on Center to bend its legs on formation of Telangana.
