Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today demanded that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appoint a new Health Minister immediately.
He said that it was unfortunate that the CM had
sacked a minister like Etala Rajender, who had always "devoted" himself to the people of Telangana, using his alleged role in land grabbing in Medak for the dismissal.
Reddy alleged that the CM had turned hostile towards the former minister as he (Rajender) was an influential founding member of the TRS, hinting that the CM's decision to sack Rajender from his post was but a way to remove one of his rivals in the pink party.
The Congress leader added that the state's health sector, already "riddled" with many problems, would go "entirely defunct" if the CM took over the health ministry. He mocked CM's decision to take over the portfolio saying that as health minister, the latter would transform the state into a graveyard.
"The health ministry, if handled by the CM, will disintegrate. How can a leader who is always hiding in his farmhouse handle such an important portfolio, especially in the midst of the current health emergency? We should keep in mind that the state government is responsible for all the Covid-19 deaths which are the result of a lack of medicines and treatment facilities," the MP charged.
"It is strange that the CM has taken over the health ministry. Doesn't his Cabinet have a single capable minister who can look after the ministry? Instead of indulging in cheap politics, the TRS government should take steps to protect the public from Covid-19. People are suffering due to the severe shortage of medical oxygen and hospital beds," he added.
