CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday mocked the statement of CM K Chandrashekar Rao that a paracetamol tablet could cure the deadly coronavirus infection.
He alleged that the CM had also said that the coronavirus would not survive in the 27 degree temperature of Hyderabad, and pointed out that a resident of Karnataka had died after obtaining treatment in the city.
He alleged that the state government had not taken any action for the prevention of the coronavirus in the state, and was instead taking recourse to completely unscientific statements.
Vikramarka made these remarks while participating in a discussion on coronavirus in the Assembly.
He also targeted the central government on the virus, and alleged that the Centre had not taken any steps to prevent the virus apart from changing the caller tune of the citizen's phones.
Strongly reacting to Vikramarka's remarks, KCR said that the opposition leader was talking irresponsibly on a very sensitive issue. He said the Congress was the biggest coronavirus in the country. He also said that it was not proper to indulge in politics on dead bodies ("savaala meeda pelaalu erukovadam").
"It is time for all of us to boost the morale of the people. I had talked about temperature with the aim of giving courage to the people. As far as the paracetamal comment is concerned, a scientist had told me about it," the CM said.
KCR also said that it was not correct to say that the Centre and the states were not taking the necessary preventive measures. The Centre was very alert and doing a good job, as shown by the fact that of the 135 crore Indians, only 65 had been affected by the virus so far. He also said that all the state governments, including the Congress-ruled ones, were also very alert and taking all necessary steps to prevent the virus from spreading.
