Congress Gets Tough Against Rebels
Stern action will be taken against leaders who have been making statements against the CM and other leaders, says the PCC Disciplinary Committee chairman.
The Congress has finally decided to act tough against its own leaders who are criticising Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the party and the state government.
Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, PCC Disciplinary Committee chairman K Satyanarayana Raju said that it has been decided to take stern action against leaders who have been making statements against the CM and other leaders.
The proposed action against such leaders would be discussed during the meeting of the Disciplinary Committee, to be held at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.
Raju said that after holding preliminary discussions, the committee would consult the CM and issue show-cause notices to leaders who are airing their views against the party and government in public.
He said that he was in receipt of a complaint against former minister T Jeevan Reddy, who allegedly made anti-government statements. Party spokesperson K Mrutyanjam had lodged the complaint, stating that he was unable to work freely in Karimnagar district due to Jeevan Reddy's statements. This issue would also be discussed during Thursday's meeting.
Satryanarayana Raju, however, avoided taking the names of Dr. P Shankar Rao or D L Ravinder Reddy, who have openly criticised the CM several times. When asked by the reporters about these leaders, he said the media must "wait and watch" till Thursday. (INN)
