Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao, on Tuesday, demanded a probe into the alleged transactions of about Rs. 180 crore through hawala channels.
Speaking to media personnel at the Congress Legislature Party office, Shankar Rao alleged that the huge quantity of cash has been transported into the state in the last few days.
He said that the authorities should investigate further, and trace out the senders and recipients at the earliest.
Stating that he had proof of the hawala transactions, he said that he will disclose the details only if the authorities failed to expose the illegal cash transactions.
Shankar Rao also welcomed Union Minister Jairam Ramesh's
announcement about making a Dalit leader the first Chief Minister of Telangana.
He also announced that he was ready to contest against former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy if the Congress High Command asks him to do so.
Ponguleti also expressed confidence that he will defeat Kiran Kumar Reddy in the latter's home constituency. (INN)
