Former PCC president and MLC D Srinivas, on Sunday, recalled that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Reddy had promised to merge his party with the Congress after the Parliament passes the Telangana bill.
Speaking to media representatives, Srinivas said that the Congress party has fulfilled its promise of granting statehood to Telangana region, and it was now left to KCR to honour his promise.
Srinivas indirectly stated that the very purpose of the formation of TRS has been accomplished.
?TRS was born to spearhead the movement for the formation of Telangana. As the state is now a reality, its (the party's) duty is over,? said D Srinivas.
The former PCC chief also claimed that there were many leaders, besides KCR, who struggled for the formation of a separate Telangana state.
He said that only the AICC president Sonia Gandhi should be given the credit for turning the Telangana dream into a reality. (INN)
