Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageshwara Rao, on Friday, said that the party, along with other opposition parties, would continue to stall the proceedings of Parliament over the issue of the "coalgate" scam.
Talking to reporters at Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Parliament, Nageshwara Rao said that the report of the Comptroller And Auditor General of India (CAG) has exposed the multi-crore scam in the allotment of coal blocks, and that the Prime Minister ought to resign from his post taking moral responsibility for it.
Demanding that the Centre cancel all the allotments of coal blocks, he said that the TDP's MPs would not allow the Lok Sabha to function unless their demands are met.
Earlier, the TDP MPs joined the other opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and the Left parties, in stalling the Lok Sabha's proceedings. Following the uproar, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar first adjourned the House till 12 noon, and later, adjourned it till Monday.
After staging a dharna before the Speaker's chamber, the opposition MPs staged a sit-in protest before Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the Parliament. (INN)
