Former minister P Shankar Rao on Tuesday targeted Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy while accusing him of not having any clout in New Delhi.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly media point, Shankar Rao said that the Chief Minister lacks influence at the Centre. He said that despite being the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he had failed to get Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's appointment to get him to lay the foundation stone for the Metro Rail project. He said that the Prime Minister's Office had rejected Kiran Kumar Reddy's plea that the Prime Minister spend some time for the Metro Rail project during his visit to the city on October 16.
Shankar Rao said that the PMO's refusal clearly shows that the Chief Minister lacks any clout in New Delhi or even with the Congress High Command.
The former minister slammed Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venakaiah Naidu for targeting the Congress. Asking the BJP to explain its contribution to the growth and stability of the country, he said that the Nehru-Gandhi family has made many sacrifices for the nation.
He also asked Venkaiah Naidu to explain his contribution for to farmers, SCs and STs of his native district, Nellore. He alleged that despite holding the post of the BJP's national president, Venkaiah Naidu had failed to do anything for his native districts. (INN)
