Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Vijayadasami.

CM Revanth Reddy said that Dasara had attained a special place in Telangana's culture. He said that Vijayadasami was a day that symbolised victory over evil across the country, and that the getting together of family members to celebrate the festival was a testament to the unity of Telangana's communities.

The CM said that the Telangana region was especially known for performing shami puja and for people exchanging jammi leaves as gold as part of Alai Balai for the festival. He said that he prayed Goddess Durga for success in Telangana and for its people to live happily.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma too greeted the people of the State. In a message, he said, "On the joyous occasion of Vijayadasami, I extend my warm and cordial greetings to the people of Telangana. The Navaratri festival renews us with the spirit of joy and jubilation. The main theme of the festival is the triumph of good over evil, that has everlasting relevance."

"'Truth alone triumphs' is our national motto, and so while celebrating the festival, we have to collectively endeavour to fight all the evils including disease and environmental hazards, and also create a greener and healthier nation. I pray that the Divine Mother may shower her choicest blessings on the occasion of happy and festive celebrations of Dasara," he added.
