The Telangana government has decided to extend the ongoing closure of educational institutes till the 30th of this month.
The Chief Secretary of the state Somesh Kumar issued the orders to this effect in the wake of growing number of Covid cases.
The orders were issued by the state government following a directive from the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The orders were issued as the Sankranthi vacation came to an end today.
In the wake of the orders, the Osmania University has decided to hold online classes for all its students from January 17 to January 30.
The authorities of the university also said that they had issued a revised schedule for the exams for various courses.
Several other universities of the state have also postponed their exams, which are scheduled to begin from Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the state cabinet will meet tomorrow (Monday) to discuss the increasing number of Covid cases including those being triggered by the new Omicron variant.
The cabinet will also hold discussions on other important issues.
The meeting will be held at 2 pm at Pragati Bhavan under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.
