Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, Sindhu Donate For Covid-19

Film star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan announced a donation of Rs 2 crore to the Centre and the two Telugu states for the cause of fighting the dreaded coronavirus Covid-19.

He will hand over a Rs 1 crore cheque to the Prime Ministers' Relief Fund and cheques for Rs 50 lakh each to the Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana Chief Ministers' Relief Funds.

Kalyan has directed senior party functionaries to make arrangements to hand over the donations.

He told the party functionaries to see that the donations went through bank transfers as it would not be possible to hand them over in person in view of the nation-wide lockdown.

Kalyan had also donated Rs 1 crore to the Sainik Welfare Board on February 20 for the families of the soldiers who were martyred or injured in wars.

Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu also each announced donations of Rs 1 crore to the Chief Ministers' Relief Funds to help the battle against the coronavirus.

In a tweet, Chiranjeevi said that he was donating Rs 1 crore for the welfare of the poor film workers and artistes of the Telugu film industry.

Mahesh Babu announced donations of Rs 50 lakh each to the AP CM's Relief Fund and the Telangana CM's Relief Fund.

In a tweet, the star said, "Let's battle the COVID-19 as a nation! I urge everyone to follow the rules put forth by our government. My deepest gratitude to the Chief Ministers of the Telugu states for their herculean efforts to save the people from the calamitous situation."

Star director Trivikram Srinivas also donated Rs 10 lakhs each to the governments of AP and Telangana.

Director Anil Ravipudi too announced Rs 5 lakh each to the CM's Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Producer Kolagatla Pratap was also among the donors, announcing Rs 1 lakh for the AP relief fund.

World champion P V Sindhu donated Rs 5 lakh each to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments.
