Boda Janardhan, Telugu Desam Party candidate for the Chennur Assembly constituency, was on Saturday arrested for violating the Model Code Of Conduct.
Janardhan was produced before a magistrate in Mancherial, where he was released on bail.
A case had been booked against Janardhan, following a scuffle between him and BJP leader Gone Shyamsunder Rao during a public meeting.
Janardhan had allegedly pushed Shyamsunder Rao, who fell on a television camera during that meeting on July 5, after the BJP leader levelled charges against him.
Following the jostling between the two leaders, their supporters entered into a scuffle, leading to the police being called in to control the situation.
Cases were then registered against both the leaders and their supporters.
