Hyderabad | 9th March 2024
In a joint statement, BJP national president J P Nadda, TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan today said that the three parties had decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections together in Andhra Pradesh.

They also said that they would all contest under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and were committed to the progress of country and the upliftment of the State of Andhra Pradesh and its people.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working tirelessly for the development and progress of the nation for the last 10 years, and the TDP and the JSP allying with his vision will help in meeting the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh. The BJP and the TDP have a very old relationship. The TDP joined the NDA in 1996, and the two parties (the TDP and the BJP) worked together in the Vajpayee and the Narendra Modi governments. In 2014, the TDP and the BJP fought the Lok Sabha election and the Assembly election together, and the JSP had supported the combine," the statement said.

"The modalities of seat-sharing will be deliberated within a day or two. We hope that the alliance will get their wholehearted support of the people of Andhra Pradesh, and live up their the expectations," the statement added.

Meanwhile, Naidu in a teleconference from New Delhi with TDP leaders asked those who did not get tickets due to this alliance not to lose heart, and to focus on the bigger picture that involved what was best for the State.
