Top Telangana Congress Leaders Lose Elections
TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, NDMA Vice-Chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy and Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao were among the prominent Congress leaders who lost.

The political careers of almost all the top leaders of the Congress party were washed away under the impact of the TRS wave in Telangana.
Prominent among those who lost the elections are Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former PCC chief D Srinivas, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, former Deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha, and former ministers D Nagender, M Mukesh Goud, Mohammad Ali Shabbir and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy.
Interestingly, most of the Congress candidates who lost the elections were among the top contenders for the Chief Minister's post.
While Ponnala lost from the Janagaon Assembly constituency in Warangal, D Srinivas lost from the Nizamabad Rural constituency.
NDMA Vice-Chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy lost to TDP candidate Talasani Srinivas Yadav in the Sanathnagar constituency.
Former minister Basavaraju Saraiah lost to Konda Surekha from Warangal East by a huge margin of over 40,000 votes.
