Naidu Seeks KCR's Help For Special Status To AP
The AP CM sought the help of his bête noire and Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao in the battle to achieve Special Category Status (SCS) for his state.
In a significant development, Telugu Desam Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today sought the help of his bête noire and Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao to achieve Special Category Status (SCS) for the state and the implementation of the promises mentioned in the A P Reorganization Act of 2014.
Naidu, who had snapped his party's ties with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, sent a team of leaders to meet with the TRS leadership and seek its help in the fight for SCS by putting pressure on the Centre, though he doesn't enjoy the most cordial of relationships with KCR.
Thus on Sunday a team of TDP leaders including former union minister Y Sujana Chowdary and K Narayana called on TRS General Secretary and MP K Keshava Rao and discussed SCS and other promises that the Centre has to deliver on. Talking about how the BJP government at the Centre had reneged on according SCS to Andhra Pradesh, they asked the TRS which enjoyed a good representation in Parliament to press the Centre to concede its just demands.
Keshava Rao reportedly told the TDP leaders that he would of take up the issue with his boss K Chandrashekar Rao.
It is pertinent note here that TRS MP K Kavitha had batted for SCS in Parliament during its last session and had openly extended support to the AP government on the issue.
Naidu has chosen to send his party leaders on similar missions to Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, too. He sent TDP MPs T Narasimham and Ravindra Babu to talk to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackarey in Mumbai, and MP Ramesh to Chennai to meet DMK and AIADMK leaders.
