Telangana Roads & Buildings Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao today said that the Centre had agreed to release Rs. 1,290 crores for the construction of roads and bridges in the naxal-affected areas of Telangana.
Rao stated that Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh had, upon the repeated appeals made by him, agreed to fund the road works in the affected areas.
The funding for the road works includes:
1. Rs. 250 crores to lay 87 km in Adilabad 2. Rs. 265 crores to lay 102 km in Karimnagar 3. Rs. 315 crores to lay 140 km in Warangal 4. Rs. 460 crores to lay 208 km in Khammam
The central funding would cover a total of 24 stretches of roads and two bridges, the minister said.
