The Jubilee Hills police have filed a case against former TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao following a complaint from one Sujata Ramakrishnan that Nama and his brother were threatening her.
In her complaint, Sujata alleged that both Rao and his brother had come to her house on October 23 and used filthy language. Earlier, the duo had also gone to a college where her son was studying and threatened him, she said. She said that Rao had also threatened to release private pictures of her onto the Internet.
The woman also released to television channels a video and telephonic conversation purported to be between her and Rao.
She stated that she had already lodged a complaint with the police on July 30 stating that she had a life threat from the TDP leader and his brother.
The Jubilee Hills police registered an FIR under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the IPC against the former MP and his brother Nama Seetaiah. It is said that the police registered the case after Ramakrishnan decided to approach the courts, though the original case had been filed in August. A police officer said that they were seeking legal opinion, and would proceed further only after examining the complaint.
It appears that the former MP and the woman had developed an intimate relationship but fell out after the woman decided that Rao was a womaniser who had earlier promised to marry an ex-MLC in Karnataka, too.
Meanwhile, Rao filed a counter complaint with the Jubilee Hills police stating that he did not know the woman and that she was blackmailing him.
Hailing from Khammam district, Rao was one of the richest members in the previous Lok Sabha.
