Widespread protests erupted across Telangana today as cadres of the BRS organised demonstrations in response to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) summoning the party's president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for questioning in connection with the phone-tapping case.
Protesters accused the Revanth Reddy administration of engaging in political vendetta against the former Chief Minister. At various locations, including village junctions and national highways, party supporters, responding to a call for State-wide protests issued by BRS working president K T Rama Rao, staged rallies, blocked roads and burnt effigies, describing the SIT's actions as political harassment. Several supporters also gathered at KCR's residence in Erravelli.
Effigies of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy were burnt in several districts, including Nagarkurnool, Siddipet, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Jangaon, Medak, Nalgonda and Jogulamba Gadwal. Protests were held not only at various mandal headquarters but also in remote villages, with local BRS leaders spearheading marches and raising slogans. In some areas, demonstrators staged mock funeral processions of the Congress government and carried out other symbolic protests to express their discontent over the investigation.
Prominent leaders, including former MLAs and district-level officials, participated in rallies, motorbike processions and highway blockades.
