Several top BRS leaders including ministers came down heavily on PM Modi after the latter's allegations of corruption against the BRS government.

Several top BRS leaders including ministers came down heavily on PM Narendra Modi after the latter's vituperative allegations of corruption today in his Warangal public meeting against the BRS government.

BRS working president and IT minister K T Rama Rao lashed out at the Prime Minister for "failing to respond" over long-pending promises to the State, including the sanctioning of a steel factory at Bayyaram, a tribal university and a coach factory in Warangal, and instead "misleading the people of Telangana with lies".

"The Kazipet coach factory is a 45-year-old dream and demand of the Telangana people. Moreover, it has been promised under the AP Reorganization Act. The Prime Minister however sanctioned a locomotive factory for Gujarat with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore, and a railway wagon repair unit with a paltry investment of Rs 520 crore for Telangana," KTR said.

He also said that Telangana had been demanding to a steel factory at Bayyaram and a tribal university for years, but that the Prime Minister had never uttered a single word about the demands.

Responding to Modi's remarks on unemployment, the minister, resorting to whataboutery, said that the union government had failed to fill about 16 lakh vacancies in various departments, but that Modi was questioning the Telangana government which had filled 2.2 lakh vacancies in the State.

Alleging that Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan was delaying the approval of several bills sent by the State government, KTR said the Prime Minister should ask her who was delaying the exercise of filling up the vacancies in the universities by sitting on the bill for it.

Countering the Prime Minister's family rule remark on the BRS government, the BRS working president said that the whole of Telangana was a family, and that every citizen was a family member for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Minister for Finance T Harish Rao too came down heavily on Modi for "speaking lies and misleading the people on the allocation of funds to Telangana".

Speaking to the media in Medak, Rao said that if the Prime Minister really had love and affection towards Telangana, he should clear all pending bills related to the State.

"Even though the NITI Aayog advised the union government to allocate funds for Telangana, the Prime Minister didn't sanction money for any project. Moreover, he has stopped giving Rs 21,000 crore to Telangana for not installing meters at agriculture pumpsets. If he is really sincere, all pending promises, including a tribal university, a railway coach factory and a steel factory at Bayyaram should be fulfilled immediately," Rao said.

Minister for Excise and Tourism Srinivas Goud lamented that the people of Telangana had a lot of expectations that Modi would give clarity on the fulfillment of the promises made to the State when he visited Warangal, but that the PM instead spewed venom against the State government.

Speaking at a press conference, Goud said that the PM had deceived the people of Telangana once again without announcing a single project for the State, and that instead setting up a coach factory he had sanctioned a small repair company.
