Telangana BJP official spokesperson N V Subhash today alleged that BRS government which had made a hue and cry about making an Expression of Interest (EoP) for the Visakhapatam Steel Plant (VSP) had backtracked from bidding for it after realising its deteriorating financial position.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's son and minister K T Rama Rao had blamed the Narendra Modi-led union government by leveling baseless and unwarranted allegations against it that it wanted to hand over the VSP to an industrialist, and grandly announced that the Telangana government would participate in the bid to protect the plant, Subhash said. But KTR kept silent after realizing that the State's financial situation was in a horrible state and it could not invest crores of rupees in the VSP, he said.
The BRS government was not even able to pay its employees including teachers their salaries on the first of every month, and in such a dire situation it had tried to derive political mileage by announcing that it would participate in bid for VSP, Subhash added.
Subhash claimed that the foundation of the BRS itself was bricks of lies, and its leaders had built high-rise buildings on this foundation without knowing that they would come down like a pack of cards. KCR had successfully deceived the people of Telangana with his tall promises nine years ago, and now he wanted to execute the same playbook in other States just by changing his party name to BRS, Subhash said.
The people of Telangana also wanted to know why the BRS government had failed to re-open the Nizam Sugar Factory and other closed factories in the State that it had promised to revive, if it had enough money to buy the VSP, Subhash claimed.
For the unversed, 29 companies including six from outside India filed bids for the VSP.
