VSP Disinvestment Plan Being Halted Is Our Victory: BRS
The party said that the union government had to withdraw its plan for disinvestment in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant due to the pressure mounted by the BRS.
Welcoming the statement of Union Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste that the Centre had put on hold on the disinvestment plan of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), BRS Andhra Pradesh unit president Thota Chandrasekhar said that it was the first victory of the party in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media today, Chandrasekhar said that the union government had to withdraw its plan for disinvestment in the plant due to the pressure mounted by the BRS with the support of the plant's workers and all other stakeholders in it.
"When the main parties - the YSR Congress and the TDP - failed to protect the rights of Andhra Pradesh in the plant, the BRS led by president K Chandrashekar Rao took the responsibility and decided to fight to protect it. The Centre had to back off on the proposal because of the BRS," Chandrasekhar claimed.
"The Centre has only put the proposal on hold for now, but we will continue to fight till the decision is withdrawn. Moreover, the Centre should announce the captive mines for the VSP and consider the demand for earmarking the Bailadila iron ore mines," he added.
