The GHMC will inaugurate a newly constructed bridge across the Hussain Sagar surplus nala near Ashok Nagar on Friday, marking the first bridge inauguration by the civic body in the New Year.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore, the bridge provides a direct link between City Central Library in Ashok Nagar and A V College in Gaganmahal, and is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the central parts of the city.
GHMC officials said that the project would benefit daily commuters, students and residents by offering a safer and shorter route.
The bridge is 48 metres long and 12 metres wide, and has been designed as a two-lane structure with a 7.50-metre-wide carriageway. Footpaths on both sides have been provided to ensure safe pedestrian movement.
Officials said that the new route was signal-free, enabling commuters to reach key locations such as Liberty Junction and the GHMC head office within approximately 10 minutes, thereby easing congestion on the surrounding arterial roads.
The bridge is expected to serve as a key connectivity corridor, improving access to prominent educational and public institutions in the Ashok Nagar area and contributing to smoother traffic circulation.
