Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Saturday slammed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for praising the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan.
Addressing a press conference, Reddy accused KCR of insulting the martyrs and freedom fighters by praising the rule of the last Nizam.
He said personalities like Komaram Bheem, Doddi Komaraiah, Pandit Kishan Rao, Vandemataram Ramchander Rao, Shoiabullah Khan and thousands of others struggled against the Nizam's rule, and many even achieved martyrdom.
He said Shoiabullah Khan had waged a "jihad" against the Nizam's atrocities and autocratic rule.
But KCR had openly insulted those freedom fighters by appreciating the Nizam, Reddy alleged.
Reddy said that the Telangana Chief Minister had sent a wrong message to the people by praising the Nizam. He alleged that the Nizam's army indulged in heinous and brutal atrocities against women and other common people who opposed his rule. Thousands of people, who witnessed and underwent those atrocities, were still alive and would disagree with KCR's contention.
He feared that KCR's love for the Nizam would one day lead him to remove the statues of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel from Telangana.
The BJP leader said that people had voted for the TRS hoping that it would create a golden Telangana. However, KCR wanted to push Hyderabad back into the slavery of Nizam, Reddy opined.
He alleged that KCR was making pro-Nizam statements under the influence of its ally Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. (INN)
