After BJP leader and former minister Etala Rajender
suddenly fell ill on June 30 in the midst of his ongoing Praja Deevena padayatra in Huzurabad, and was taken to the Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills for treatment, many BJP leaders have visited the ailing leader in hospital.
While Telangana BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar and former MP Vivek Venkataswami called on him yesterday, MLAs M Raghunandan Rao and T Raja Singh called on the leader today.
Speaking to the media afterwards, the two MLAs said that Rajender would be discharged on Monday (August 2). They added that he would also resume the suspended padayatra from Veenavanka mandal's Kondapaka village after reaching Huzurabad.
Singh revealed that the leader's health was gradually improving and that the latter would soon resume his padayatra as he wanted to meet the people of Huzurabad. Sources suggest that while his blood pressure is already under control, his sugar levels are fluctuating.
Talking about the upcoming Huzurabad by-election, the leaders also stated that the former minister would win for the seventh consecutive term from the constituency as he had the "blessings of the people".
Rajender had been touring Kondapaka village when his health took a turn for the worse on July 30. The doctors of the mandal's government hospital performed some preliminary tests on the former minister. He was also tested for Covid-19. His family was then asked to take him to Hyderabad as he had developed blisters due to his padayatra.
The leader had, however, reportedly refused to visit the city and was given saline in his bus by the doctors and was brought to the Jubilee Hills hospital only yesterday.
