BJP leader and former minister Etala Rajender suddenly fell ill in the midst of his ongoing Praja Deevena padayatra in Huzurabad yesterday. He had been touring Veenavanka mandal's Kondapaka village when his health took a turn for the worse.
The doctors of the mandal's government hospital performed some preliminary tests on the former minister. He was also tested for Covid-19. His family was asked to take him to Hyderabad as he had developed blisters due to his padayatra.
Rajender, however, reportedly refused to visit the city and was given saline in his bus by the doctors and was brought to the city only today. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills for treatment. While his blood pressure is reportedly under control, his sugar levels are fluctuating.
The padayatra has now been postponed temporarily. BJP leaders have said that Rajender will resume his padayatra from Kondapaka village itself as soon as his health improves.
Telangana BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar and former MP Vivek Venkataswami called on the leader at the hospital.
Talking about the upcoming Huzurabad by-election to the media after visiting the hospital, Kumar alleged once again that the leaders of the TRS were trying to win the seat "using underhand means", and claimed that unlike the TRS, the BJP's candidate, Etala Rajender, would win the seat in a democratic fashion.
He then requested party workers and leaders not to visit the hospital as the former minister had been advised to take complete rest by his doctors.
