BJP Demands Resignation Of KTR For "Inept" Handling Of Rains
The party demanded the resignation of the municipal administration minister for all the rain-related deaths and the "general inept handling" of the city.
Launching a scathing attack on the BRS government, Telangana BJP official spokesperson N V Subhash today alleged that the KCR government had failed to provide security and safety to the common man during recent rains, which had claimed the lives of two children in the city.
He said that a girl identified as Mounika had fallen into a manhole in Kalasiguda, while a six-year-old boy died in Jubilee Hills due to heavy rains.
He lamented that the woes of the people, particularly those living in low-lying areas, were unimaginable when the city experienced even scant rains. Two-wheelers and even cars were being washed away in the flood waters as government was not bothering to make arrangements to divert the free flow of rain waters, he said.
He alleged that the BRS government was not providing proper drainage infrastructure though it was collecting over Rs 3,000 crore as property tax from the citizens of Hyderabad alone.
He added that it was not just the recent rains, and that the negligence of the KCR government had resulted in many people dying in the recent past due to wall collapses, by falling into manholes and in stray dog incidents. He demanded the resignation of MA&UD minister K T Rama Rao owning moral responsibility for all the deaths and the inept handling of the city.
He added mockingly that the ruling BRS wanted to implement the "Telangana model" in other States when it was unable to take effective measures to save the lives of people in Hyderabad itself. He also asked what happened to the promise made by KCR to take Hyderabad to the level of Dallas and Istanbul.
