The party has postponed its public meeting scheduled for Thursday and to be addressed by Amit Shah, keeping in view the rains in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today said that the party had postponed its public meeting scheduled for Thursday in Khammam district and to be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, keeping in view the rains in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Addressing the media in the State BJP office, Kumar said that the main guest of the meeting Amit Shah would not able to attend it due to his round-the-clock duty to monitor the situation arising out of the cyclone Biparjoy.
He said that NDRF troops had already been sent to the cyclone-affected areas, that about 50,000 people were evacuated from those areas and shifted to safe places, and that all trains to the area had been cancelled.
He added that the party had come to the conclusion that it would not be appropriate to hold the public meeting at this critical time although all the arrangements for it had been made.
He asked the party workers not to be disappointed due to the postponement of the meeting, and said that it would be held very soon.
