BJLP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy today criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his decision to undertake a Musi river beautification project at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
Referring to the Chief Minister's earlier statement that the State's treasury was empty when his party assumed power, he asked whether Reddy why he was then undertaking such a massive project, and if it was a way for him to fill his own personal treasury.
At a Maha Dharna program held by the BJP at Indira Park, he said that the houses built in the Musi river catchment area had been permitted during the Congress regime and demanded to know why those houses were now being considered illegal. He accused the ruling party leaders of viewing the Musi project as a source for personal gain, and vowed that his party would not allow the houses of the poor to be demolished for commissions or illegal income.
"We don't want a London or a Seoul; we just want Hyderabad to stay as it is. In the past, KCR had promised to make it like Istanbul but could not. Does Revanth Reddy's government only see the lands of the poor? And where are the MIM leaders? Why aren't their houses being targeted for demolition?" Reddy asked.
He warned that there would be unrest in the State capital if the houses of the poor were demolished.
