In a sharp critique of BRS and BJP leaders, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy today launched a scathing attack on the failure of the previous government to address the pollution of the Musi river.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy also challenged BJP MP Etala Rajender to bathe in the Musi river if he truly believed its clean-up was unnecessary.
"If there is no need to clean the Musi, then stay there and take a bath in its waters. If you can endure the stench, then maybe there's no need for action," he said.
Attacking the BRS for its inaction over the river during its tenure in government, he asked, "Did the past government intend for the poor to continue living in filth? Should the women of these communities never be able to conceive because of the polluted waters?"
Calling on Rajender, the BRS's K T Rama Rao, and the AIMIM's Owaisi to answer that, he asked, "What are the opinions of BRS and BJP leaders on this? They need to speak up."
The Congress MP also criticised Rajender for defecting to the BJP, and said that he had gotten "corrupted" by joining the party.
Reddy also brought up the promises made by BRS leaders to transform Hyderabad into a global city akin to Istanbul, and ridiculed them as nothing but hollow words. "Unlike your leaders, our Chief Minister is not making empty promises," he said. "Revanth Reddy is determined to breathe new life into Musi."
