Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today accused Union minister G Kishan Reddy of deliberately hindering Telangana's development by obstructing key infrastructure projects.
Addressing a public gathering in Wanaparthy, the Chief Minister cited several instances where he believed the Union minister's actions had impeded the State's progress.
Chief among the concerns raised by the CM was the stalled expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail's Phase II.
He said that while metro projects in cities like Bengaluru and Chennai had received Central approval since 2021, Hyderabad's proposal remained pending.
He said that he had many meetings with Kishan Reddy and other Central ministers urging them to expedite the necessary clearances, but that those were to no avail.
The CM also criticized the Union minister for "opposing" the Musi rejuvenation project, which aimed to restore the river's ecological balance and enhance Hyderabad's cultural heritage. He accused Kishan Reddy of double standards, and said that the Union minister had previously supported similar initiatives like the Sabarmati Riverfront and Ganga rejuvenation projects in other States.
He also accused Reddy for "delays in securing approvals" for the Regional Ring Road (RRR), a dry port and a greenfield highway connecting Telangana to Andhra Pradesh's seaports, and held the latter responsible for not facilitating these critical infrastructure developments vital for the State's economic growth.
In a surprising statement, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was willing to support Telangana's development, but it was Kishan Reddy who was creating obstacles.
He urged the Union minister to leverage his position to secure Central funds, and challenged him to bring Rs 1.5 lakh crore for Hyderabad's development. Revanth Reddy promised to felicitate both Kishan Reddy and the Prime Minister in a grand ceremony if such support were secured.
