The controversial Ayyappa Society area witnessed some tense moments today during a demolition drive of illegal constructions by the GHMC.

The controversial Ayyappa Society area witnessed some tense moments today during a demolition drive of illegal constructions by the GHMC.

The local people and leaders staged a dharna demanding that the GHMC authorities stop the drive.

They asked the officials why they did not stop the works when they were being constructed.

They also told the authorities that they were ready to pay the regularisation fee.

The GHMC has been carrying out the demolition drive for a long time in the area citing that the buildings didn't have permission.
