The State government on Sunday decided to allow auto-rickshaws on the hillock of the Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple.
Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah along with district Collector Hanumanth flagged off auto-rickshaws to the shrine today.
For almost two years now since the renovation of the Yadadri temple by the previous BRS government, auto-rickshaws have not been allowing on the hillock. However, during the recent Assembly election campaigning, the Congress made a promise to auto-rickshaw drivers that autos would be allowed atop the hillock if it was voted to power.
As promised by it, the Congress (government) today accorded permission to auto-rickshaws to get on the hillock with passengers. The first ghat road was prepared for auto-rickshaws getting onto them.
The auto drivers expressed happiness at the development, and extended thanks to the local MLA and the district administration.
Congress MLA Beerla Ilaiah said that 100 auto-rickshaws will be allowed on the hillock every day, and that the auto-rickshaws would ply only in conformance with police instructions to collect money from the devotees at the price fixed by the government.
