Gade Asks For Gap Between Local, General Polls
Conducting elections without a proper gap would not only create problems for the parties, but would also confuse the voters, says the senior Congress leader.
Senior Congress leader Gade Venkat Reddy on Friday demanded that the Election Commission of India take a call on the conduct of municipal elections in the state, scheduled to be held on March 30.
Speaking to media persons, Gade said that there should be a gap of at least three weeks between the elections to local bodies and general elections. He said that the conduct of elections without a proper gap would not only create problems for the parties, but would also confuse the voters. Since the municipal elections are being held at the directions of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, he requested the Election Commission to approach the Supreme Court in this regard. (INN)
