MLC By-Elections In Andhra, Telangana On March 20
These elections will fill ten seats - five per State - that will be vacant from March 29 due to expiry of the terms of the incumbent members.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the schedule for biennial elections to the Legislative Councils of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, for seats under the MLA quota.
These elections aim to fill ten seats - five in each state - set to become vacant on March 29, 2025, due to the expiry of the terms of the incumbent members.
In Andhra Pradesh the terms of Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Janga Krishnamurthy, P Ashok Babu, Tirumala Naidu and Duvvarapu Rama Rao, and in Telangana those of MLCs Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Sheri Subhash Reddy, Egge Mallesham and Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi, will end on March 29.
Election Schedule
- Issuance of notification: March 3, 2025
- Last date for filing nominations: March 10, 2025
- Scrutiny of nominations: March 11, 2025
- Last date for withdrawal of candidatures: March 13, 2025
- Polling date: March 20, 2025, from 9 am to 4 pm
- Counting of votes: March 20, 2025, starting at 5 pm
The ECI has urged all stakeholders to adhere to the prescribed timelines and ensure a smooth electoral process. The Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in the constituencies concerned, regulating the actions of all political parties and prospective candidates.
