Assembly Elections In Telangana May Be Delayed By Six Months: KTR
The Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in or before December 2023, but the Telangana minister feels that may not happen.
Hyderabad | 12th September 2023
BRS working president and Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao made sensational remarks today, saying that the Assembly elections in Telangana could be delayed by six months, and that the election notification for the State may not be issued in the next month.
The Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in or before December 2023 to elect all the 119 members of the State's Legislative Assembly. Last month, BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao already announced the candidate list for 115 of the 119 consituencies for the elections.
Given that, KTR's remarks on a possible delay in the conducting of the Assembly elections in Telangana assume significance.
In an informal chat with media persons at Pragathi Bhavan, KTR said that clarity on the schedule of the Assembly elections for Telangana would come only after the upcoming Parliament special session to be held from September 18 to 22 where the Union government was reportedly planning to introduce the One Nation One Election bill.
"If the Centre pushes the idea of holding Assembly and Lok Sabha general elections simultaneously, a caretaker government will be in place for six months, so there will be scope to do more welfare and development works in Telangana," KTR said.
He also claimed that there was a positive vibe for the BRS in Telangana after the announcement of its candidates, and that the party would win 90 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections.
He said that the Congress had lost credibility among the people, and that the people did not believe the words of TPCC president Revanth Reddy and the party's other leaders.
"The national parties are slaves of Delhi. The self-respecting people of Telangana do not accept slavery parties. The people should decide whether they want the slaves of Delhi or the children of Telangana. All the opponents of Telangana like former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Congress leader KVP and YSR Telangana Party president Sharmila are uniting. Shall we put ten years of development in the hands of Telangana's opponents? The people should realise the facts and take a decision," KTR said.
