The Army gave this assurance while participating in an interactive meeting convened by the Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Commission in Hyderabad.
A representative of the Indian Army, Brig. Anupam Sharma, said that the Army was extending full cooperation to the investigation by the police and the Army into the murder of 11-year-old boy Shaik Mustafuddin.
The boy, who was set ablaze allegedly by Army personnel, had succumbed to the burn injuries on October 9.
Brig. Sharma said that the investigation was underway, and no guilty person would be spared.
He gave this assurance while participating in an interactive meeting convened by the Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Commission at its office on Raj Bhavan Road on Saturday.
The Commission, which had already registered a suo moto case pertaining to the murder of Shaik Mustafauddin, had convened the meeting considering the ill-will and anger among the people over boy's brutal murder.
The community elders, legal luminaries and representatives of different political parties participated in the meeting. The Army too sent its representatives.
According to Commission Chairman Abid Rasool Khan, the agenda of the meeting was to reassure the community that the Commission was seized of the matter, and was coordinating with the law-enforcing agencies, the police and the Army to quickly identify the murderer(s).
The Commission said that there was a need to bring in amity among the Armed forces and the common citizens.
The meeting also discussed ways to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
It was also decided to represent to the government for adequate compensation to the family of the departed boy.
The meeting, which was chaired by Abid Rasool Khan, was also attended by Members of the Commission Dr. Qurratulain Annie Hasan, Sardar Sarjith Singh and Gautham Jain, and the Telangana government's representative M J Akbar.
Other participants included former Judge Justice E Ismail, MLC Peer Shabbir Ahmed, Advocate Masood Khan and the boy's father Sikander Mashooqi.
It was decided to form a Committee comprising of (a) A member from the Commission, (b) a retired police officer, (c) a retired Army officer, (d) a social activist and (e) a legal luminary to interact with the community, the Government and the law-enforcing agencies, and also to work out the methods to avoid such incidents in future.
It was also decided to provide support and protection to the family and the witnesses; to explore the possibilities of shifting the settlements from within the Army area or to provide direct access to such settlements; to represent to the Government and the authorities for a transparent and time bound investigation; to fix CCTV cameras after identifying the sensitive areas; and to set up a mechanism for addressing the grievances between the Army and civilians.
