Pet-Basheerabad Police Nab Five In Murder Case

The Pet-Basheerabad police today arrested five individuals allegedly involved in the brutal murder of a Syed Siddiq.

The arrested accused are being produced before court for judicial custody.

The accused have been identified as Shaik Ahmad alias Noor (33), Shaik Rehmath (24), Kodimyala Shashi Kumar (23) and Vagmar Raj Kamal (24), all residents of Macha Bollaram, and Varikuppala Jampanna (20) of Old Alwal.

The deceased Siddiq and his father Syed Quddus (the complainant) had been engaged in supplying battery lights to vegetable vendors at weekly markets for the past 15 years. They had a longstanding business rivalry with a Shaik Mohammad and his sons, who operated in the same trade. This rivalry often resulted in heated disputes and mutual threats, with each side attempting to push the other out of business.

In March 2025, a confrontation occurred at the Medchal weekly market, during which Siddiq allegedly assaulted Noor, inflicting grievous injuries. Noor lodged a complaint at the Medchal police station, and a case was registered. Following this, Siddiq and his family allegedly pressured the accused to withdraw the complaint. However, Noor and his family refused to compromise. Subsequently, Siddiq is said to have issued threats that if the complaint wasn't withdrawn and the accused didn't exit the business, he would kill him (Noor) and his family.

Fearing for their safety and nursing a deep grudge, Noor resolved to eliminate Siddiq. He shared his plan with his younger brother, Rehmath, who agreed to support him. They also roped in Rehmath's friends - Raj Kamal, Shashi Kumar and Jampanna - to execute the plan.

On May 10, 2025, all five accused met at Noor's welding shop, RBN Fabrication, near Janapriya Apartments in Macha Bollaram, where Noor outlined the murder plan. The group agreed to go ahead with the execution.

The next day they gathered again at the same location. Noor came to know that Siddiq was at the weekly market near Central Park, Kompally. He and Jampanna first visited the market to conduct a recce and confirm Siddiq's presence.

Upon confirmation, the remaining accused joined them at the location. At around 7:45 pm, in full public view, all five accused launched the attack with knives and fists. Despite a large crowd being present at the market, the accused carried out the assault without hesitation. They fled the scene immediately after.

The police seized two knives used in the attack, a Yamaha FZ motorcycle and blood-stained clothes belonging to the accused.

Using CCTV footage, local intelligence and technical surveillance, the police successfully identified and tracked the suspects. All the accused were arrested and interrogated, and confessed to their involvement in the murder.
