Mantralayam Tense As TDP Candidate, ASI Injured In Shooting
Tikka Reddy's gunman fired 10 rounds into the air to scare away rampaging YSR Congress Party activists, but Reddy himself got injured by a bullet, too.

Tension gripped Mantralayam mandal in Kurnool district when the gunman of TDP candidate Tikka Reddy opened fire in the air to scare away YSR Congress Party activists.
However, Reddy and a police assistant sub-inspector were injured accidentally.
The incident occurred in Kaggalu village in Mantralayam mandal on Saturday.
Reddy, the TDP candidate for the Mantralayam Assemly seat, after campaigning in several other villages, reached Kaggalu village, a stronghold of the YSR Congress Party, to start campaigning, and hoisted the TDP flag. Simultaneously, YSRCP candidate Balanagri Reddy's wife Jayamma and his son Pradeep Reddy, accompanied by their supporters in the village, came to the spot and tried to obstruct the TDP candidate's campaign. Supporters of both the candidates quickly ended up exchanging blows.
Anticipating trouble from the YSRCP activists to his boss, Tikka Reddy's gunman fired 10 rounds into the air to scare them away. In the melee, Reddy and a police assistant sub-inspector suffered bullet injuries accidentally. While Reddy suffered an injury to his left leg, ASI Venugopal got injured in his right leg.
The situation turned tense in the village and the police deployed more forces as a precautionary measure.
