Jana Sena founder-president and popular Tollywood hero Pawan Kalyan today called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at his camp office in Vijayawada and closeted with him for about three hours.
Talking to the media later, Pawan Kalyan said he had congratulated the Chief Minister for laying the foundation for the new capital city, as he could not attend the function. He also thanked Naidu for his decision not to acquire land forcibly from the farmers for Amaravathi's construction, he said.
He said that he had also brought to the notice of Naidu the problems of the farmers under the jurisdiction of Amaravathi.
Responding to a question on Special Status for Andhra Pradesh, Kalyan said that the BJP would have to face problems if it failed to fulfill the promises given to Andhra Pradesh. He would not keep quiet if injustice was meted out to the State and its people, he stated.
"We have to wait and see because the Centre has said that it would fulfill all promises. We have discussed the issue of Special Status to AP. The Centre has to accord Special Status to the State. Otherwise it will be a loss to the BJP," he said.
Right now, he said, "there would be no use, and we cannot get the desired results if we invade the roads demanding the implementation of the Centre's promise".
To another question, the actor-turned-politician said that he was not financially strong enough to expand his Jana Sena Party further.
As against speculation, Pawan Kalyan said that he did not discuss the proposed elections to the GHMC with the AP Chief Minister. He only discussed a GO issued allowing bauxite mining in the Visakhapatnam agency areas, and urged the Chief Minister to withdraw the GO which would affect the living conditions of the girijans.
