Godavari Floods: 18 Dead, Two Missing
604 villages of 152 mandals in 9 districts have borne the brunt of the floods in the Godavari river, affecting 34,235 families.

Disaster Management Commissioner T Radha on Wednesday said that 18 persons have died and 2 are still missing, due to the aftermath of the heavy rains which have lashed the state.
T Radha said that 604 villages of 152 mandals in 9 districts have borne the brunt of the floods in the Godavari river, affecting 34,235 families.
She said that over 1,55,541 persons have been affected, with 52,338 persons seeking shelter in relief camps set up by the government.
The Disaster Management Commissioner also revealed that 77,922 food packets, besides 1,35,255 water sachets, are being distributed; and 108 medical camps are being organised.
She said that 44,321 hectares of agriculture crops have been damaged, while 163 roads - a total of 24.8 km in length - have also been damaged due to the floods.
Apart from the roads, 1,640 irrigation sources have been damaged, she said, and added that over 5,000 houses have been fully damaged. She put the number of houses partially damaged at 14,875.
The Commissioner said that 277 cattle have lost their lives. She revealed that Rs. 3.50 crore was drawn by Collectors to cope with the relief measures.
She said that the water levels at the Tungabhadra were 92% of the gross capacity, while Jurala is at 79%. She added that Srisailam is at 78% of its gross capacity, while the Sriramsagar Project is at 69% and the Nagarjuna Sagar project is at 63%. She said that Singur is at 54%, Somasila at 44%, Yeleru at 41% and Nizamsagar stood at at 1%.
