Amid
criticism by opposition parties on storm and sewage waters in the wards of the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) causing a lot of inconvenience to Covid and other patients, minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today visited the place.
He inspected the wards and promised to improve the conditions.
Talking to the media later, the minister admitted that the wards had been flooded with storm waters, and said that he had asked the officials concerned to address the problem of water-logging in the premises and prevent its recurrence.
"I have instructed the officials to ensure that the hospital does not face similar problems again," he said.
He also added that the hospital would provide better health services to Covid and other patients hereon.
The minister then alleged that the opposition leaders were playing dramas on the OGH. He accused the opposition parties of coming in the way of the KCR government attempting to construct new buildings for the hospital. When KCR had visited the hospital and promised to demolish the existing structure to erect a modern one, the opposition parties had cried foul, he claimed. The same parties were now indulging in a false campaign claiming that the government was not bothering about the upkeep of the hospital, he said.
For the uninitiated, the opposition parties have been slamming the government for failing to check the problems in the OGH that have been adding to the coronavirus woes of the patients. They also criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for failing to visit the old hospitals in the city now in various stages of dilapidation.
