Osmania General Hospital A Huge Mess: Raja Singh
The Goshamahal MLA said that the hospital was flooded with rain water and had the drains overflowing after the rains that hit the city on Monday night.
Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, of the BJP, today said that he had visited the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) and found it flooded with rain water and the drains overflowing after the rains that hit the city on Monday night.
He said that six wards, including an ICU, all of which were on the ground floor, were flooded, forcing the patients to take refuge on their beds.
In addition, the roof and drainage system of the hospital had also given way after the showers on Monday, flooding the entire ground floor of the heritage block, he claimed.
The showers happened in the evening, following which the floors were filled with stinking drain water, Singh said.
A glimpse of the ward could be seen in a video that was circulating where helpless patients were sitting atop beds along with their attendants, he said.
He added that the whole hospital was swept by the staff to prevent any hygiene issues to sick patients.
Singh said that he had also noticed that used PPE kits and gloves had been kept at exit of the hospital, which could cause health issues for visitors.
He requested the Chief Minister and Health Minister to wake up and fix things at the hospital immediately.
