Bharatiya Janata Party State president G Kishan Reddy on Sunday accused MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi of trying to incite communal feelings through his provocative speeches in the Legislative Assembly.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly's media point, Kishan Reddy said that Akbaruddin Owaisi has stated in the Assembly that the Bhagyalaxmi Temple abutting Charminar was illegal, and that it would be removed. Criticising the MIM leader for his remarks, he said that no government or party could dare to remove the temple.
Requesting Speaker Nadendla Manohar to delete Akbar's remarks on temple from the Assembly's records, he said that the MIM leader was misusing the floor of the House to incite communal feelings.
Kishan Reddy also ridiculed Akbaruddin Owaisi's appeal for unity among Dalits and Muslims. He alleged that several Dalits had been killed in the Old City during communal riots in the past, and that it was the MIM that openly supported the accused in those cases. He said that the MIM does not care for the Dalits who live in the Old City, and was trying to project itself as a pro-Dalit party. (INN)
