Telangana BJP president and union minister G Kishan Reddy today said that his party would cancel the reservations for Muslims that were being taken out of the overall reservations for the BCs, and extend the benefit to the BCs.
Addressing a gathering after admitting several leaders from the BRS and other parties from Adilabad and Peddapalli districts at the party office in Nampally on Sunday, Reddy accused the Congress of failing to offer their share of the reservations to the BCs, and of supporting the MIM in taking away the reservations earmarked for the community.
"50 seats were reserved for the BCs in Hyderabad, but 37 of those are being taken away by the MIM in the name of minority reservations. The BCs are being taken for a ride in the name of minority reservations. In our very first cabinet meeting after coming to power, we will cancel the minority reservations," Reddy said.
He also came down heavily upon both the BRS and the Congress, claiming that both were under the control of the MIM, and that the leaders of the former two parties could not even enter the Old City without the permission of the latter.
"Government officials are unable to visit the Old City and collect payments for power bills. They are being attacked if they try that. This will not be tolerated once we come to power. The houses of those attacking government officials will be bulldozed. And corruption will be totally eradicated. Our Chief Minister will be available for the public instead of being confined to a farmhouse," Reddy said, and urged the public to vote for the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections.
He also said that the campaign by the BJP for the Telangana Assembly elections would be intensified from November 3, and that a large number of union ministers and leaders would participate in it.
Referring to the recent announcement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Suryapet that a BC candidate would be the Chief Minister of the State if the BJP came to power, Reddy said that that would be a revolution in Telangana.
"For several decades agitations took place demanding that a BC candidate be made the Chief Minister. But all governments cheated the public. Now the BJP has promised that their dreams will be realised. It was the BJP that made a BC the Prime Minister of India for the first time after the country getting freedom. He has also been extending corruption-free rule in the country with utmost commitment. There can therefore be no doubt that the BJP will keep its promise of making a BC candidate the CM for Telangana, too. There is a huge response from the public over the announcement, and several BC organisations are passing resolutions in support of the BJP," Reddy claimed.
