From college students unable to deal with the hurt of rejection, the acid pouring propensity has now touched school-going teenagers. In Tenali, a girl from the 9th standard was a victim of an acid-throwing incident that occured earlier in the day on Wednesday.
Ramavathi Lalitha, 15, hailing from Guntur, had gone to her cousin's place in Tenali to spend her vacation. Subba Rao, her alleged lover (also from Guntur), went to meet her on Wednesday. As a result of a altercation that had erupted then, Subba Rao ended up throwing acid on himself as well as on Lalitha.
According to Subba Rao's cousin, Subba Rao had gone there to pour acid on himself in front of Lalitha, but in the chaos, the liquid spilled on her as well.
Both their conditions are critical and the two are taking treatment in the local hospital. The police have begun their investigation on why the whole incident occurred.
