Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) have reportedly caught Kodangal TDP MLA Revanth Reddy red-handedly when the latter was allegedly giving Rs. 50 lakhs to Anglo-Indian nominated MLA Stephenson following an agreement that the latter would cast his vote for TDP MLC candidate Vem Narender Reddy.
It is learnt that the ACB was inquiring Revanth Reddy in a secret place, and that it would produce the MLA in front of a judge tonight.
It is learnt that Reddy was trying to woo Stephenson for the last two days to cast his vote for the TDP candidate. In the process, the ACB arrested him at Pushpagiri Apartments in Vijayapuri Colony in South Lalaguda in the Secunderabad constituency, where Stephenson stays.
However, TDP leaders including MLC candidate Vem Narender Reddy alleged that the TRS government had conspired to trap Revanth Reddy intentionally. Reddy had no such huge amount, and he had only Rs. 10,000, an amount which he carried with him usually, they said.
Stephenson lived at Boinpally but the police had detained Revanth Reddy in the Secunderabad area, Vem Narender Reddy pointed out.
The security personnel of Revanth Reddy stated that nobody had arrested their MLA.
Mahabubnagar TRS MLAs including G Balaraju alleged that it was a shame on the part of Revanth Reddy to have committed such a crime.
"We are feeling ashamed as Mahabubnagar district leaders, since Revanth Reddy is also from the Mahabubnagar district," Balaraju said. (NSS)
