Congress leaders from the state today lodged a complaint with the returning officer for the Telangana Legislative Council elections against the TRS candidate P Venkatrami Reddy.
In their complaint, the leaders said that Reddy was facing a lot of allegations, and that he had committed several irregularities when he was an IAS officer.
Revealing more details while speaking to the media, TPCC president Revanth Reddy claimed that the officials of the state government were behaving in an irresponsible manner. He alleged that the officials were hiding the details of the cases pending against the TRS MLC candidates, and demanded that the officials keep the nomination papers of the candidates online.
Speaking specifically of Venkatrami Reddy, Revanth Reddy claimed that no service rules had been followed in the case of Venkatrami Reddy. He said that the former IAS officer had six cases pending against him, and that he was also fined in a case. However, the Congress had come to know that Venkatrami Reddy had stated that he did not have any cases pending against him, which was wilful misleading. He said that the resignation of Venkatrami Reddy should be accepted only after the conclusion of an inquiry into the cases against him.
He also alleged that the entire election process was under the control of the TRS, and that the officials were not responding to the objections raised by the Congress. He said that the Congress would lodge a complaint against the officials with the Election Commission of India.
